How to import IFC data?

What is IFC plugin?

IFC plugin is used to import IFC data into MAGNET Modeler model. Plugin can be accessed by IFC icon in MAGNET Modeler user interface (see picture).

You can add new IFC file by double clicking IFC icon or selecting “insert” from context menu. IFC settings dialog is opened and you can select file to import.

In dialog you can change Main group name and filter sub group by different attributes (Object Type, Part Type, Description, Layer, Color …). You can select a material for sub groups.

Dialog has also context sensitive menu. With it you can check or uncheck whole column and set same material for multiple rows. This is done by setting value for one row, selecting multiple rows and from context sensitive menu selecting “Set same material”.

Only groups marked as “Selected” are brought into MAGNET Modeler.

Error button changes to red if there are errors in IFC file or it has items that are not supported. Rows can be moved by selecting row and pressing up or down arrow.

You can specify origo, rotation and scale.

If you have added IFC file to MAGNET Modeler, it is shown in user interface as in picture on the right. You can edit setting by double clicking added item or selecting “settings” from context menu. Item can be deleted by pressing “delete” or selecting “remove” from context menu.
