The Pipe rule transforms linework into pipe-shaped and textured objects.
For Pipe model creation, MAGNET Modeler supports
- Lines
- Strings
- Polylines
Elevated Lines, Strings and Polylines can be used to create pipe objects.
In case of zero elevation, all objects can also be translated to a reference surface.
Pipe rule parametres

1. Layer
Layer where elements that define the "Pipes" are located.
2. Materials
Click on material to access the Material Library of MAGNET Modeler. Select existing material or insert a new material.
3. Description
Enter a description for the "Pipes" rule. This will change the name of the rule within the Modeler Rules window. In case you have several "Pipes" rules, this helps to easily identify them.
4. Group
Click on group to choose from a list of existing groups / sub groups or manually enter your group structure. Use the "/" character to create additional sub groups. For example: Existing/Office/Parking Lot.
5. Height
Enter a value for height to control the height of the fence.
6. Crossection
Specify a cross-section type. You can choose in between circular and square or define a unique cross-section by picking an existing polyline within MAGNET Office.
7. Info text
Info text allows to add additional information, such as material, quality requirements or manufacturer. The info text information will be accessible in MAGNET Explorer via the Object Info tool.
8. Info URL
Info URL allows to add hyperlinks such as a link to manufacturers homepage or a design documentation. The info URL link will be accessible in MAGNET Explorer via the Object Info tool.
9. Interpolate
Interpolate (Yes) will translate the entity´s vertices onto the surface. (No) will only use the elevation of the entity.
10. Tesselation_granuality
Circular shapes are broken down into polygonal shapes in MAGNET Modeler. Tessellation_granularity defines the number of corners of these shapes. We recommend to use a value of 7 or higher.
11. Goraud_shaded
Set the gouraud_shading to (Yes) to produce a continuous shading of surface represented by polygon meshes. The interpolation is done by your computer´s graphics card.
12. Position_offset
Position_offset (X) allows a left / right offset from the actual position of the entity. The (Z) value controls a relative vertical offset.
13. Auto_segmentation_distance
Auto_segmentation_distance densifies the Line / String / Polyline for a smoother interaction with a surface when draped. Usually, "interpolate" only drapes the vertices of the entity onto the surface.
14. Auto_segmentation_angle
Auto_segmentation_angle divides arcs of a Line / String / Polyline for a smoother interaction with a surface when draped.
